Strategic Training & Development Plan (STDP) STDP (Strategic Training & Development Plan) is the
second-generation design theory for teaching, which is based on the
ISD (instructional system design) and integrates strategic
management theory with management of organization reform theory.
The first-generation teaching design theory of ISD is based on
behavior learning method, which focuses on the individual
development; however, the theoretical basis of STDP is the learning
organization theory, which emphasizes the development of
organization. Therefore STDP puts more emphasis on the combination
of the training plan and enterprise strategy, which designs the
training curriculums by levels, classifications and skills in view
of the demands of enterprise, department and staff. All these form
the training structure and the detailed training plan, which
provide the total training solution for the enterprise. The students who attend workshop of STDP will gain as follows:
From teaching design based on the function, to training design
based on qualification model, to teaching system design (ISD), all
these can only solve the part of problems in training. But STDP
lets us think about the development of talents on the level of
enterprise strategy, uses the explicit language to describe the
